As the season of warm rains in Tokyo approaches, I would like to announce the most interesting events of June.
Foremost, under the auspices of the festival of Russian culture in Japan, there are fireworks of concerts, and screenings of Russian animated films by Yuri Norshtein and Karen Shakhnazarov. The festival enjoys the backing by both governments.
Screening of “Tale of Tales”, a well-known animated film by Yuri Norshtein and Francesca Jarbusova, will continue until June 27. It takes place in Hayama, one of my favorite resorts on the shore, which is an hour from Tokyo, in Kenritsu Kindai Bijutsu kan . As you see, Hayama is famous not only for its beaches and the Imperial Villa…
On June 21, Grigori Sedukh, a talented violinist (violino piccolo) who tours Japan regularly and enjoys wide popularity, will perform a classical program in the newly opened Yamaha Concert Hall, located in Ginza in Yamaha Music Store building.
And, finally, quite an event in Tokyo’s cultural life – screenings of nearly all movies by Karen Shakhnazarov, a famous Russian movie director. The screenings will be held in downtown Tokyo, not far from Shimbashi – in Hamarikyu Asahi Hall, small hall. For a token fee, you can see movies such as “We Are from Jazz”, “Ward Number 6”, “The Messenger Boy”, “The Vanished Empire”, and “The Rider Named Death”.
The most enthusiastic fans of the famous director’s talent not only can see his films, but also listen to his interview – I will let you know about it later.
